Community
Hanham Hall will offer its residents the opportunity to live in a comfortable
environment with the additional benefit of having much smaller carbon footprint.
The development sets out to provide an example of cutting edge sustainable
design to the South West, and in doing so we expect it to become a popular
destination for those involved in education. Attached to Hanham Hall will
be a Sustainable Living Centre, which will house a permanent exhibition
of material describing the project, together with the history of the hall
itself and other resident information.
All age groups will be catered for, as families can count on the numerous
schools for all ages within walking distance to the site and there will
be a sheltered housing building for older residents who want to live a
more environmentally responsible lifestyle.
Gardens will be hedged as standard, as will the edge of the development,
to encourage wildlife and to provide the best environment for family life.
These will need maintenance annually, staff at the Sustainable Living Centre
will be available for advice and guidance.
The Development Trust
We have funded the Development Trust to enable car sharing clubs, gardening
clubs and walking school bus projects to be set up either within the development
or together with other local groups. The Trust is based in Hanham Hall
and will act as a focus for the management of the development. Every resident
will have a share in the trust and will be able to influence its behaviour,
helping it to make decisions that affect the lives of residents.
The Development Trust will be responsible for the day-to-day management
of the community. All residents will have representation on the board of
the Trust. This will allow them to play a role in deciding future plans
for the community and shape how their lives are affected by the development.
They will be responsible for managing the maintenance of all the buildings
on site, there will be a one stop shop for grounds, buildings and services
repairs and maintenance.
